In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My music video is in the style and genre of a pop and hip-hop video, similar to the music of Lady Gaga. In my planning, research and production of the video, I followed similar forms and conventions of music videos that artists such as Lady Gaga would follow.
I chose All Over Again by AJ to feature in my music video. I liked this song because it had a catchy and edgy melody and it was a similar genre to what is popular within the younger generation today. It is a fast tempo track so that would give me the opportunity to create some fast and creative editing. For example. i used similar performance and editing techniques.
I found song to be very bespoke and unique; that was the feeling that I wanted to create for the video. When promoting a song, the purpose of the music video is to reach the target audience and also stand out from all the other competing videos. I wanted the video to stay away from reality and look like something that could only be imagined. I think that would make the video memorable and will make the audience more eager and interested in the artist, thus increasing their popularity. I would achieve this by using a range of unusual shots and locations, interesting angles and creative editing. I wanted the audience of the video to be mystified, but at the same time intrigued by what they are watching, increasing their interest of the artist. I believe this is the goal of a regular music video, and is what i tried to make my video demonstrate.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancilliary texts?

I have made sure that the music video and the ancillary texts link in terms of colour, style and lighting. The video is dark and mysterious so i have used dim colours and smokey effects on the didgi-pack and in magazine article. Its important for the combination to link so the audience can identify the artist. If an artist is continuos in that style, that particular will become unique to them and will be their trademark.

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

The majority of audience feedback has been positive. A comment that i'm very happy to have heard numerous times is that the video was unusual but interesting. My aim was to make the video memorable, not something that could quickly be forgotten. Although there is the chance of people's taste not fitting the unusualness of it, they will certainly remember. perhaps if they remember the artist, there is more of a chance that the artist will grow on them. For example, when i first learnt who Lady Gaga, i thought she was crazy and a looney because she was so individual and had insane ideas. Now, she is my favorite artist and i admire her bespoke style.

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

When planning and constructing my music video, i was aware that our college has recently invested in a film studio with excellent facilities. I wanted my video to look as advance and professional as possible so it would be important to take advantage of the studio facilities. In the studio, it would be possible to try out effects that i hadn't tried before, change the green-screen settings and have an interesting backdrop. Also, i wanted to learn how to use the new technologies behind it as-well.I converted my story board into an annimatic, which is something that i had never done when planning. This gave me a better idea of what my video would look like and also get a better idea of how much shooting and shots are required.
