Risk Assesment

Safety Risks

Safety is the main priority and will be taken very seriously.

Safety on elevators: The first scene is is the actress stepping out of an elevator. Messing about in elevators could cause serious danger for myself and other people so the most sensible behaviour will be taken into account. There is also the possibility that on the day we come to shoot, the evelvator may not be working. In this case, we may need to use a different location such as the town centre.

In the studio: When filming in the studio, there are many hazzards for myself and other people. There will be a lot of electrical equipment about so food and drink will be forbidden to be in the studio. People must be cautious that there are many wires that may be tripped on. Because the the equipment is so complicated, there must be a technician on hand to assist us filming. There may be the possibility that there isn't one available. To prevent this from happening, I will make sure the ask for assistence in advance before filming. Not having a technician will be extrememly dangerous.

Broken Glass: Whilst filming the shots of broken glass, obviously it is my priority tp not harm myself or other people. To prevent this from happening I will chose a safe place to film that is away from un-aware passers by. Also i will use protective gloves when handling the glass.

Burning Paper: Again, i will use a suitable and safe location to film the burning paper. I will stay well back from the burning paper and insure that I make sensible desisions.

Cirus Podium: Performing on a tall podium is very dangerous. To insure the best safety, i will wear suitable footwear and make sure that there are people on hand to assist me if i should fall or injure myself in the worst case sinario.

Performing on Bar: In the scene where I'm performin on the bar, to ensure my safety i will take into account a number of things. Firstly, I will make sure that the surface is not slippy. I will wear suitable shoes to dance in. I will not perform in a way that will make it possible for me to loose my ballence. And i will have plenty of people standing by to warn me of hazzards and assists me when required.

Other Risks

Relying on other people: As I am the only person in my group, I will defininitly need assistance when producing my video.
. Teachers and Technicians: I will need to request perimision from teachers who facilities I will be using when film. For example i will request to use the stage by asking Vicky at least a week in advance. There is the possibility that i will not be able to use the stage because other people may have priority over it. I will also request to use the studio in advance because there may be i high demand for use of it and I will need to request the time of a teacher or technician.
. Actors and Camera Operators: I will need the help of my fellow student to help me film the video. As they have there own responsibilities, I will need to make sure i have other people on hand to help me if it is not possible for certain people to help me.

Filming in Public Places. I will be filming around college and in public place in Newcastle. Obviously there will be many people about because these are busy areas. People may be offended if they acidently get caught up the the filming when they don't want to be. To make sure i don't cause offence, I will film at the least busiest time possible and take great consideration into account of peoples feelings and rights.

Props/ Actors/ Job Role List

Job roles

As I am the only member of my group, I'm quite happy to take responsibility for each role of my group. But as I'm a taking the lead role in my video as the singer, there is the possibility that it may be challenging to find a siutably person to opperate the camera when I am performing. I will think more into this risk within my Risk Assesment.

Preferably, when i need other people to help me film my video, i will request help from my fellow media students as they will have the most experience of using a video camera ans they will understand the position i am in.

Props

Sunglasses: Within the first shots of the video, the actress is wearing sunglasses to represent her attitude and authority. Throughout the whole video, the actress is fashionably dressed to show her confidence and to also apeal to a younger crowd.

Smashing Glasses: In the video there will be shots of smashing glasses. This represents the artist breaking free from alcohol and links in with the lyrics, "Got off the drink, away from the brink, got my s**t together." The smashing glass with also represent anger towards whoever the song is about. The broken glass is a potential safetly hazzard.

Speakers: Because this is an upbeat song, there will be shots of speakers and amps when the bass kicks in. I will be able to find places to film the speakers around college in such places as the Media studio, the Performing Arts department, and the Music department. I will film where ever is most conveniant for the teacher.

Padlock and Key: There will be shots of a lock and key to simbolise breaking free.

Photograph of Ex Boyfriend: There will be some shots of a photograph getting ripped up and burnt. This is where i will require a male *actor to appear in the video and be in the photograph. The burning photograph will be a safety hazzard.

Circus Podium: In one scene, the actress will be standing on a circus podium to show her confidence. A circus podium may be hard to find but if I can't find one thats suitable, I will use a circular table and cover it with colourful fabric.

Colourful Balloons: Whilst in Newcastle, the actress will have colourful balloons to let go of again to simbolise breaking free. I will be able to get these balloons from shops such as Asda.

Shiny Confetti: There will be flashes of confetti raining down on the actress. Again I will be able to find the confetti in shops such as Asda.

Actors

I will be the main singer and performer the the video because i have have a vission of how i want the part to be performed I obviously I will be best at directing myself.

In the video I need a photograph of a male actor to burn. I have requested permission of a friend of mine to use his photograph

Research into Target Audience

The target audience I am aiming to reach out to are people who are aged between 14-25. This is because, they are the age range that are most interested in modern music and also they are the most audience that are most likely to be interested in my videos genre, pop and hip-hop. This genre is seen as up to date and the trendiest music to be interested in.The audience will be able to identify with artist, who in my video is a young singer, and also with the style of music.

This type of audience also more likely to be interested with modern technology and will be able to access internet sites such as YouTube, Myspace and digital music channels, and they are also more likely to download the video from iTunes and similar download sites, and then share the video with their friends.

Baring this in mind, i must make sure my video is suitable for a universal audience, if it going to be exposed, just as a ussual professional music video would, on TV and internet. For this reason i would have like the video to have a universal classification, but due to slight swearing in the lyrics, the only suitab;e classification would be 12. The genre and narrative will apeal to a specific audience. Within the Hip-Hop genre followers tend to be a part of the younger generation commonly teenagers and young adults. On the other hand our music video is going to be performance based and therefore people that enjoy videos that consist of performing are targeted. My video will be located in places for example, in a bar and on the streets of Newcastle. I'm hoping the audience will be able to relate to these places as they should recognize them.

Giving my music video this classification by the BBFC will widen the audience of the video as much as possible.

How do these compare?

.Each photo is a close up of the artist- imediatly telling the buyer whos album it is

.the colours have been altered- maybe to create a feeling of fantasy or an electric vibe

.both Aj + Britney are looking directly into the camera and look like they have got wind in there hair... maybe to give them a sence of power

.lets the audience know what genre it is, Pop, due to girly colours and pleasant images

What I can conclude from this?

In order to inform the audience of AJ's genre, i must make sure the conventions link together appropriately. I will use colours such as purple and silvers. I will do lots of close-ups of the actress femininely and fashionably styled. Also, i will high light the actresses independence by the use of different shots, camera movements, and effects such as fast transitions, colours altered and plenty of different shots indifferent locations.

Similar Genres: Videos, Album Covers, Websites

AJ: Rock/ Pop/ Hip-hop

Lady Gaga : Dance/ Pop/ Hip-Hop/ Electro

Because Lady Gaga has similar genre and electro sound to AJ, I want to research more in depth, her videos, website and album cover.

Narrative: Just Dance

The theme of Just Dance is about a crazy party. In the video, the narrative is about a house party that has blown over and everyone there has passed out, but then Lady Gaga comes and gets the party started again and is also the life of the party.

The theme for All Over Again doesn't relate to Just Dance, since the theme of AJ's is about getting over a past boyfriend that treated her badly. Despite this, the two songs have a similar sound and tempo. It will be useful to take note of some of the camera movements and effects used in the Just Dance video.

The outfits worn by Lady Gaga in this video and day to day are quite futuristic. The innovative outfit above is one of her trademark looks, with the blue lightening bolt, platinum hair and bold and stripy dress. I think this matches her electro sound and makes her distinctive from other artists. Lady Gaga is famous for her unique fashion sense and by wearing these eye-catching outfits, this helps promote herself and her music.

I could incorporate this into my own work linking a similar eye-catching style that matches the music into my video and album

cover. This will create a unique identity for AJ and will increase her popularity, letting her be known not only for her music, but her signature style as well resulting with more exposure to the public and her audience.

The quick flashes show that her music is up-beat and energetic, similar to All Over Again. I'm going to familarise the movements and effects from my video to this one but obviously the plot doesnt fit, therefore i have to try and create a different mood with my video.

Britney Spears: Stronger

I've chose this song to compare my song with because they both have a similar theme- being stronger than an ex-boyfriend. In Britney's video, she is shown to be powerful by my camera shots looking up at her.

Photobucket

The video also features the loud sound of thunder and close ups of her angry expressions which represent her anger. I could use similar things like this to portray the mood of my song.

Product and Genre

Photobucket

Dance music is associated with clubs, hence the dancing female. The bright neon lights signify energy and an upbeat mood. "Clubbers Guide" immediately addresses target audience of the genre and gives them the impression that if they like dance music, this is what they need to be listening to.

Photobucket

The dark colours represent the genre rat pack which is an old genre which may explain the black and white. This also links in with the old fashioned microphone and retro clothing. If the clothes and props were modern, the album cover wouldn't link in with the genre.

Photobucket

The genre for kasabian's album is indie and alternitive. Judging by the album cover, it is clear that kasabian arn't the normal "pop" act due to bespoke props and costume. The historic costumes and the weird and random props tells the audience that this is an unusual band which is probably the main marketing techneque. The bold print for the band name looks asif it has been painted or graffitied on the the cover which shows that the band is rebelious and independant

Photobucket

The genre for this is rap and hip-hop which is steriotypically quite aggresive and hard music. The rapper is standing confidently and giving the audience the impression that he thinks highly of his possesions and himself. Also steriotypically rappers have a "bling bling" lifestyle, which results in them being envied or adored. The costume and the text are shining, similar to expensive jewelery so therefor links in with the genre and artist.
